Equity Capital is the primary investment arm of West Chartered Bank. Our mission is to utilize the bank’s capital to support businesses and sectors by:
– Making direct investments in well-established Irish companies or projects (Direct Investments)
– Investing in Irish seed, venture capital, and private equity funds (Fund Investments)
Equity Capital is actively seeking investment opportunities that offer strong commercial returns and contribute to broader growth prospects for the bank.
Direct Investment
In 2017, Equity Capital initiated direct investments. Our team specializes in investing in well-established companies boasting strong management teams, a track record of revenue and profit generation, and a desire to secure funding for strategic business growth opportunities.
Our Criteria:
– Established Irish businesses seeking capital to fulfill specific growth objectives, such as acquisitions, expansion into new geographic markets, or access to public equity markets.
– Driven and ambitious management teams.
– A clearly defined pathway to exit.
– While we are sector-agnostic, we place particular emphasis on SMEs and Corporates operating within key sectors of the Irish economy, including renewable energy, social infrastructure, and healthcare.
– Our typical investment size ranges from approximately €5 million to €40 million for non-controlling stakes.
Fund Investment
West Chartered Bank supports early and growth-stage companies by investing in seed, venture, and growth capital funds.
Our Criteria:
– We seek strong, ambitious, and experienced General Partner teams with a focus on Ireland.
– A track record of delivering returns to Limited Partners.
– Investment opportunities ranging from €5 million to €20 million that offer:
– A commercial return.
– Potential for value addition for West Chartered Bank.
– Support for the Irish economy.
– Sectoral focus on:
– Technology.
– Life Sciences.
– Fintech.
– Real Assets (including renewable energy and social infrastructure).
– Macro – Growth Equity investments in mid-market high-growth Irish businesses.
As of October 2020, Equity Capital has committed over €260 million to 21 funds, supporting over 300 companies and creating more than 4,500 jobs in Ireland.
